What do you know? I'm an Avon Lady! :)

I've been selling Avon since September 2007, but this is my first attempt at starting a blog about it! Please be patient with me - I'm not totally sure what direction this blog will take or how to go about it, but I decided to be adventurous, so here I am!

I can remember as a little girl getting Avon lotions and lip balms in my Christmas stocking. I remember the Avon lady coming to visit and sitting down with my mom as she placed an order. I remember looking at the books and making up my own wish list (sometimes I got something from the wish list, sometimes not). But never in my wildest dreams did I ever think I would BE the Avon lady!

It's rather funny how it all happened, too. About a year ago, a fellow teacher (Kathy) told me how she was able to stay home with her son when he was little by selling Avon. As much as I wanted to be home with Christopher, there was not even the slightest inkling that told me I would be able to do something like that - in fact, I think my exact words were, "No, I can't sell anything...I'm just not a good sales person. (famous last words)" In my head, I thought, "Check with my mom - she's the sales professional in our family - she could sell ice to an eskimo"...but since Kathy didn't know my mom (and my mom lives in another state), there was no point in saying that out loud!

Well, that was in May 2007...by September, my tune had slightly changed. Ok - to be quite honest, I still didn't think I could sell anything, but Christopher wanted to be Diego for Hallelujah Night (our church's Halloween alternative) and Avon had a really cute one. I actually saw it on ebay - but I could tell the picture was from an Avon catalog - so the bargain hunter in me decided I could get it at a discount if I signed up as a representative. I decided to check it out, see how much it would be to sign up. When I found out it was only $10 to get started, I thought, "Why not - let's give it a try." So, I did...and the rest, as they say, is history!

Well, when I signed up, I was given 10 brochures to get me started...so, I figured, rather than just letting them lay around the house, I might as well put them out and see what happens. I put my name on the back and put them in the mailroom at the school where I was teaching. By the end of th week, I had a few orders. I was shocked! Then I started thinking that maybe, just maybe, I might be able to do this! I put in my first order, made the deliveries, and put out more books. As the school year progressed, my Avon business began to grow. It didn't happen by chance, of course - once I got started and went to meetings, I began to realize that this really was something I could do and would offer me the opportunity to be at home and be my own boss (two things I've always wanted). So, I started reading books, listening to books on tape, and learning everything I could about having my own direct-marketing business (by the way, I'm still learning).

My hubby has been a great help, too! He handles the accounting side of the business (his specialty) as well as creating some personalized forms for me! He saw the possibilities before I did...and he's pushed me along the path to help me get where I am today! And now, I'm a full-time Avon Lady and loving it!

So...if you need some Avon or would like to sell Avon, give me a call! I'd love to hear from you! You can also vsit my Avon website & online store at: www.youravon.com/kjansen. Just click the link and it should take you there! Thanks for taking the time to read this post!
